Europa Café, located at Airport Junction Gaborone, brings a European flair to it’s customers in Botswana. The Coffee Shop, which is part of a South African chain, features a varied menu of excellent pizzas made from local ingredients, Italian specialties, delicious pastries, Tribeca gourmet coffee imported from South Africa, and much more.

Dan Raditlhalo the manager, points out, “we change the menu every other three months but we always keep our customers’ favourite dishes on the menu. Our vegetarian pizzas please the local vegetarians and the Muslim community, and we provide a wide choice of alcoholic beverages as well. Popular dishes are our pizzas, chicken lemon, and the seafood basket. When a dish works very well in Botswana, our South African headquarters let us keep it on the Botswana menu which allows us to satisfy our local clientele, mainly comprised of middle- to upper-class locals and foreign travellers.” Europa Café is very popular with international visitors, who are pleased to find a European-style café in the heart of Gaborone.

Europa Café distinguishes itself through its focus on maintaining the highest standards of quality. Dan Raditlhalo, says, “People come once to discover the quality of the food, the ambiance and the great service we offer, and they come back again and again.”

Committed to hiring locally

Europa Café

The restaurant is committed to hiring locally and training its staff to meet high standards. Europa Coffee Shop often hires students in Gaborone who work part-time while completing their studies. “We like to give students the opportunity to work with us and make their own pocket money, while still attending college. This gives them the opportunity to meet decision-makers from various businesses, simultaneously teaching them about responsibility and teamwork,” Dan Raditlhalo explains.

Projects to expand

Europa Café

To cater to visitors of Botswana’s Diamond Hub, Europa Café has opened a sister café, called the Diamond Cup. Ambrose Phuti also wants to open another Coffee Shop in Botswana’s main gateway, Sir. Seretse Khama International Airport. He is also looking into opportunities to expand to other locations. He says, “Currently we have been able to rely on word-of-mouth advertising which brought us a high ranking on Trip Advisor. However, we are also beginning to actively communicate with the market complementing our expansion goals.”

To potential customers and partners, Dan Raditlhalo concludes, “Europa Café provides unequalled service, aims for high standards in the food industry, strongly supports Botswana, and wants to please all its customers.”
