Hunan Road and Bridge

Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group Company Limited (HNRB) has brought industry-leading innovation and expertise to Rwanda’s construction sector. Established in China in 1954, HNRB has grown to become a major integrated construction enterprise operating in more than 20 countries and having 10 subsidiaries worldwide. HNRB has been awarded a GRAA award of Int’l Road Federation for the iconic 1,176 meters Aizhai Bridge in China’s Hunan Province, which is the biggest cross-canyon suspension bridge in the world.

Entering Rwanda in the 1980s, HNRB’s local projects include Kigali Stadium, a road between Kayonze and Rusumu, and a current multimillion-euro project funded by the ADB to build a 48 km road connecting Gisiza and Rubavu. General Manager Zeng Kerong points out, “For the Aizhai Bridge, HNRB developed many features that were ‘firsts’ in global bridge construction, including GCTC technique in building, which was HNRB innovation. Thanks to these innovations, HNRB is ranked China’s top company for road and bridge construction. With over 1000 locals in Rwanda and potential to employ more, we handle all types of construction, from roads, tunnels and bridges to residential developments, light-rail systems and more.”
