The National Institute of Research and Development in Mechatronics & Measurement Technique – INCDMTM Bucharest, Romania, has over 45 years of leadership expertise in the intelligent industry of mechatronics, a cutting-edge field integrating precision mechanics, electronics and informatics. General Manager, Gheorghe I. Gheorghe explains: “Today’s automobile, agriculture and many other industries are not possible without mechatronics. Our institute is the only one which develops mechatronics in multiple directions. We have won international competitions for the mechanical equipment we have designed for clients in France and Portugal”.
The institute has been a core supplier for Renault-Dacia in Pitesti for over 25 years and also works with other clients in the auto sector and not only, which accounts in annual average around 30% of the institute’s turnover. The institute has developed know-how in state-of-the-art MEMS and NEMS (micro-nano-electromechanical systems), which has been engaged in projects for structural, topographical and micro-geometrical analysis based on atomic-force microscope, for laser control of railway wheels profile, for multi-parameter measurement and control of components from automotive industry and for robots, at the macro and micro scale, which can handle the manipulation of heavy parts and servicing the micro-technological platforms for mechatronic equipment for intelligent control, etc.
Concerning medical and biomedical applications, the Institute has used an advanced technology of selective sintering with laser-beam and metal powders, which allowed the creation and realization of prosthetic elements and systems (e.g. a prosthetic elbow implemented on a 10-year-old patient). Gheorghe I. Gheorghe welcomes international partnerships, for example in the bio-medical sector.
