Scot Race Consult plays a key role in driving the growth of Botswana’s private sector. Nelson Muzimbawake, Managing Director, founded the company with partners in 2009 in order to provide business-consulting services to locals who could not afford to work with the “Big Four” international consulting firms. Today, Scot Race Consult has four main divisions: auditing, accounting and tax services, general financial consultancy and due diligence, and a secretariat.
Scot Race also offers outsourced services. Nelson Muzimbawake says, “We choose students from the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants and
train them, and when they are ready we place them with clients as resident accountants. Through outsourcing we provide full-fledged accounting services, including for tax returns, payrolls, data capturing and regulatory compliance.” In addition, Scot Race handles business issues for many non-resident business owners and foreign investors, and, as a free public service, assists local entrepreneurs launching small businesses.
