One of Macedonia’s three providers of mobile telecom services, Makedonski Telekom Group is the most successful in Macedonia, and it has cornered a 55% share of the local mobile market. Now Makedonski Telekom Group aims to acquire the tender for fourth generation (4G) telecom services, which Daniel Szasz says may happen in 2013. A former monopoly player now 34% owned by the government, Makedonski Telekom has proved it can excel in a competitive market. Makedonski Telekom Group earns around €250 million in annual revenues and invests some €70 million per year into Macedonia.

Makedonski Telekom is currently focusing on modernizing its infrastructure in order to provide high speed Internet access everywhere in the country. Daniel Szasz explains, “We aim to invest around €170 million in Macedonia in the coming years, a process which we already started. We have successfully transitioned from being the single telecom services provider into a dynamic modern company with a strong corporate social responsibility commitment; we sponsor cultural as well as sporting events and other projects. Our mission is to further improve our infrastructure and services. We are a good example of transparency and excellent corporate governance here in Macedonia.” Makedonski Telekom Group serves as a benchmark in Macedonia’s telecom sector.
