The government-owned National Water and Sewerage Corporation was established in 1972 and has been rapidly upgrading and expanding its activities since the 1990s.
The company was launched to provide water and sewerage services in Kampala, Jinja/Njeru and Entebbe, but now operates in a total of 23 towns. “Our priority is to ensure excellent water supply and sewerage services in the above urban centres,” explains Managing Director Alex Gisagara.
The Corporation is committed to supporting Uganda’s economic and social development. Alex Gisagara says, “We have a long track record as a reliable and transparent organisation and we welcome the chance to work with foreign partners. We have enjoyed tremendous support from development partners, including the European Union, the World Bank, and KfW, and are certainly open to further support from both development partners and the private sector.”
