Valea Calugareasca Wines Famous for Superb Quality

Located within the Dealu Mare vineyard, at the very curve of the Middle Sub-Carpathians, S.C. ROVIT S.A. Valea Calugareasca is the jewel of the Romania’s renowned region in the field of oenology. Spread along the gentle slopes of the Carpathian Mountains, around 100 km north-east of Bucharest, Valea Calugareasca is one of the ancient vineyards especially famous for their red wines of Valea Calugareasca. The specifically favourable microclimate of the region, with warm and long-lasting autumns, enables abundance and outstanding quality of crops. The soil, rich in iron oxides, is primarily favourable for red varieties, producing the famous Valea Calugareasca red wines.

Founded in 1991, ROVIT currently operates 800 hectares of vineyard planted with noble grape varieties, and boasts a daily processing capacity of 35 grape wagons. With a wine storage of 15 million litters and barrels with a capacity ranging in between 300 – 15.000 litres, the company’s high-tech production facilities are equipped to handle the entire process of wine making, from grape crushing, fermentation and treatment-conditioning to maturation in wood barrels, conditioning and bottling. In addition to its main activity of wine production, the company also operates 62 hectares of plum and apple orchids and the fruit is sold both to domestic and international markets.

The entire production is processed in the company’s wine-preparation unit, which is equipped with modern grape processing lines and highly professional equipment from the KRONES and Defranceschi brands. The cultivated varieties supply a vast range of wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Feteasca Neagra, Burgund and Sangiovese in the superb red wine category, and Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Feteasca Alba and Pinot Gris from in the category of good-quality white wines.

ROVIT’s high quality production process and the fineness of the bouquet harmonized with the ruby brightness, created these velvety and vigorous wines which have won unanimous admiration and numerous prizes at international festivals. Among them, carrying the fame of the red wines of Valea Calugareasca, is Cabernet Sauvignon, the proud king of red Romanian wines.
