Founded in 2006, S.T.O.P .Ltd specialises in the design, implementation and maintenance of high- and medium-voltage electricity distribution systems as well as in providing, installing and maintaining all forms of mechanical and electrical equipment. Committed to state-of-the-art technologies, S.T.O.P .Ltd is making a significant contribution to upgrading and expanding Rwanda’s power grid.
Balthazar Manirakiza, co-founder and Managing Director, explains, “We partner with two European suppliers of electrical materials, one in Germany and one in the UK, and we have completed around 15 projects for a total of around 500 km of installed medium-voltage power lines and around 700 km of lower-voltage lines. We have provided power connections for over 20,000 households so far.” S.T.O.P.’s corporate customers in Rwanda include Inyange beverage, Skol brewery and others.
In addition to power lines, S.T.O.P. Ltd’s portfolio includes air-conditioning and heating systems, fire-protection and security infrastructure, transformers, solar hot-water heaters, transmission towers and more. Looking to the future, S.T.O.P. Ltd aims to get involved in building small hydropower plants and factories. Balthazar Manirakiza welcomes projects in the private sector. He says, “We want to work with major investors. We have a very strong reputation here in Rwanda and we can handle all kinds of projects.”
