Sheraton Kampala Hotel

The Sheraton Kampala Hotel, managed by Constellation Hospitality Group, brings the upscale amenities and services for which Sheraton is known worldwide to Uganda’s capital. The landmark hotel was built in 1967 and extensively upgraded when it became part of the Starwood Hotels and Resorts group. Ideally located in the heart of the city, the Sheraton Kampala is just a 45-minute drive from Entebbe International Airport and within easy reach of the city’s CBD (Central Business District). A wealth of cultural, cuisine, entertainment and shopping options can be found nearby, as well as within the hotel itself.

General Manager, Chris Pollard, says, “Our 233 rooms and suites, each decorated with touches of both local and modern-contemporary styles, offer magnificent views on all four sides of either the city panorama, our lush tropical gardens, or the prestigious residential areas of Kololo and Nakasero. Our rooftop cocktail terrace gives a complete 360° view of our famous rolling Seven Hills.”

The Sheraton’s facilities include ‘Sheraton Fitness’ by Core Performance with a state-of-the-art health club, complete with a fully-equipped gym (cardiovascular, weights, aerobics), a massage parlour, sauna, steam-bath, juice health-bar, tennis and squash courts, and an outdoor pool. For business guests, the Sheraton offers a fully equipped business centre as well as ten adaptable meeting rooms for conferences and banquets, with options for five up to 500 guests.

The Sheraton group is known worldwide for its superlative dining and beverage options, and the Sheraton Kampala is no exception. The Victoria Restaurant serves an international American Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the Paradise Grill offers themed dinner evenings with different live bands playing each evening. Lunches and dinners feature international cuisine, with an option for outside Grill during dinner. The Equator Lounge serves delicious meals in the evening whilst the DJ spins favourite songs until 5 AM.

Chris Pollard promises, “Whatever your plans, our warm and welcoming staff at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel will make your stay a memorable one.”

New facilities in the works

The Sheraton Kampala is set for continued upgrades. Chris Pollard explains, “We plan to increase the number of rooms to 300, build a new underground parking facility with a ballroom extension on top that will cater to up to 1,000 guests for events and meetings, and give the hotel’s lobby a new face. We have a major refurbishment package coming up which will take between 12 to 18 months to roll out, after which the Sheraton Kampala will have reclaimed its rightful place as Kampala’s top hospitality venue.”

The Sheraton Kampala has already boosted its occupancy rates significantly in recent months. “We are once again the hotel of choice for many in Uganda’s business community,” Chris Pollard says proudly. He welcomes international travellers to Kampala and the Sheraton, where they will find facilities and services which meet the highest international standards. He says, “Come visit Uganda. It is an amazing country with a lot to offer!”
