TE-TO Skopje, Macedonia’s first co-generation power plant, is one of the biggest foreign investments in the country to date.

Budgeted at €135.8 million, the project is owned by Sintez Group (Russia), with an 80% share, and by local district heating firm Toplifikacija AD Skopje, with a 20% share. The power plant was completed in 2010 and operates according to the highest international standards. GAMA Power System (Turkey) was the project’s main contractor and ALSTOM (Switzerland) produced the plant’s equipment in a turnkey contract, while Landesbank Berlin AG (Germany) and Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje provided financing.

TE-TO Skopje has a power capacity of 230 MW and a heating capacity of 160 MW. It will achieve income not only through sales of power but also through sales of heating and CO2 certificates thanks to the participation of Toplifikacija AD. TE-TO Skopje is certain to stimulate Macedonia’s economic development.
