DHL Mongolia

Global logistics giant DHL has had a presence in Mongolia since 1989 when the group established DHL Express there, and DHL’s activities in the country have been growing rapidly along with the Mongolian economy. In 2007, DHL launched DHL Global Forwarding Mongolia. Odgerel Khulan, Managing Director, explains, “DHL Global Forwarding offers a wide range of services, including general cargo, industrial projects, supply-chain management and warehousing support. We handle air freight for shipments weighing more than 45 kg, as well as freight transported by ship, rail and road. We also provide customs-brokerage services and online tracking.”

DHL Global Forwarding employs around 30 people in Mongolia and was the first global-forwarding operation in the country. Odgerel Khulan says, “We have established our position in the Mongolian market. The range of services that we offer can satisfy every customer’s needs.” The company’s clients benefit from DHL Global Forwarding’s access to the international DHL network and tracking service, which covers 220 countries all over the globe.

Reliable service every day

From Mongolia, DHL Global Forwarding mainly handles exports to neighbouring China and Russia but is seeing growing business transporting shipments to Japan, South Korea, the US, Italy, France, and other European countries. Odgerel Khulan points out that while infrastructure can be a challenge in Mongolia, DHL Global Forwarding’s strong partnerships with national and international airlines as well as its easy access to Ulaanbaatar airport means it can send out shipments every day.

DHL Global Forwarding Mongolia aims to live up to the global DHL group’s well-known reputation for quality and to play a key role in the growth of the Mongolian economy. Odgerel Khulan explains, “We make sure we are the leading player in bringing logistics services here in Mongolia up to international standards. We are also involved in many corporate-social-responsibility projects around the country, including an initiative to help children with Down’s syndrome. With 25 years of experience here, we want to contribute to the development of Mongolia as a whole.”

To potential international investors in Mongolia, Odgerel Khulan points out that Mongolia’s mining sector is booming and that many other high-potential opportunities are available involving such products as leather and cashmere. She says, “Mongolia also offers attractive costs for labour and raw materials. So, come to Mongolia! Everything is still untapped; all sectors are waiting to be developed fully. DHL Global Forwarding will be here to assist you logistically.”
