Gdansk University of Technology

Gdansk University of Technology, founded in 1904, is ranked one of Poland’s top technology universities. Serving 28,000 students, the university has nine prestigious faculties: architecture; chemistry; electronic telecommunications and computer science; electrical and control engineering; applied physics and mathematics; civil and environmental engineering; mechanical engineering; maritime engineering and ship technology; and management and economics.

Henryk Krawczyk, rector, explains, “Gdansk technology university uses the acronym smart to showcaseour goals: S is A is for attractiveness of the university, R is for rapid development, and T is for ‘think future’. We also use a triangle model to ensure a balance of science, education, and innovation.” Gdansk technology university continues to expand and recently opened new centres for ICT and nanotechnology.

Gdansk technology university aims to attract more international students and professors and to step up its global connections. Henryk Krawczyk says, “We have already developed a plan for the next round of eu funding and are ready to utilise it to further improve our facilities and to attract foreign professors who are leaders in their fields. We aim for the university to be a source of innovation which will ensure that the Gdansk region acts smarter.”
