Uganda Clays

Uganda Clays has a 62-year history of manufacturing world-class clay products according to the International Standards.

Ranked Uganda’s top provider of quality baked-clay building materials, the company has developed a product portfolio of more than 40 items, from clay roof tiles and bricks to supports for floors of high-rise buildings (Maxpans) and decorative grilles.

All the company’s products are fire-resistant, water and soundproof. To meet growing demand, Uganda Clays opened a cutting-edge €12 million (US$15 million) production facility in 2010 to boost its capacity to over 94,120 tonnes per year. “Our products are found in 90% of the buildings in Kampala,” says CEO Charles Rubaijaniza. The awards-winning company, which supports a number of community-service projects, serves as a benchmark for Uganda’s clay building products manufacturers.

State-of-the-art technology, rigorous quality controls

Uganda Clays’ competitive edge comes from its state-of-the-art technology equipment (including heavy-clay machinery imported from Italy), rigorous testing and quality controls, and sustainable processes. The company has been ISO 9001:2000 certified since 2003 and is working on ISO 9001:2008 certification. Uganda Clays exports its products to Kenya and Southern Sudan and sees significant potential in Tanzania and Rwanda. Charles Rubaijaniza is optimistic about the growth of the company because of the many market opportunities in the East African Region.
