Tajikcement

“Tajikcement takes pride in employing Tajik raw materials – limestone from the Kharangon deposits, iron ore from the Buvak mine, and clay from areas near the company’s plant – to produce award-winning cement that meets the highest international standards. Tajikcement’s main product is type M-400 Sulphate Portland cement, but the company is preparing to produce types 300 and 500 Sulphate Portland cement as well,” explains Kurbonmamadov Z. Jalolovich, Chief Engineer.

Over the past five years, Tajikcement has steadily upgraded its technologies and production processes to boost its production from 125,000 tonnes in 2008 to an anticipated 265,000 tonnes this year. Zuvaydov Makhmasaid Makhmudovich, General Director, explains, “We are currently in the process of further updating our technologies to international standards. This will allow us to expand our capacity to ensure high-quality cement for Tajikistan’s national development needs as well as to increase our exports. We currently export mainly to Russia, Afghanistan and other nearby markets, but we have recently established partnerships with companies working in Tajikistan and companies from China, Japan and Iran as well.”

Tajikcement’s cement has been used in some of Tajikistan’s most ambitious construction projects, including the Palace of Nations, the Anzob tunnel, the Lower Panj Bridge, the Shar-Shar Bridge, and the Rogun and Sangtuda hydropower plants. Tajikcement currently employs gas-powered furnaces to ignite ‘clinker’ as part of the cement-making process, but is in the process of converting one of its rotary furnaces to coal power.

Boosting exports to new markets

Tajikcement’s products have won awards in a number of prestigious international competitions. In 1985, Tajikcement’s sulphate-resistant Portland cement received the International Gold Prize for Quality at a show in Madrid, and in 2008 Tajikcement was awarded the Golden Jaguar prize for high quality from the International Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. In 2009, Tajikcement received the International Prize for Quality from the International Expert Commission in Paris, while in 2010 in Frankfurt, the company was awarded the Arch of Europe citation in the ‘diamond’ category for ‘aspiration towards improving quality’.

Tajikcement will continue to develop new products and to participate in international exhibitions that increase its global brand recognition. Tajikcement is also building on its competitive advantages, including its skilled personnel and decades of experience, to enter
new markets, including in Europe. Zuvaydov Mahmasaid Mahmudovich says, “Our company is looking for a potential partner interested in investing in Tajikistan through working with Tajikcement. We invite investors to trust our expertise. We can guarantee you fast returns on your investment.”
